Cheddar 2019 week 9… (welcome back to jk.com)

Week nine business goes in this thread.

Mother of god I think I should dump the whole webhosting domain business because to paraphrase Tarantino dead website storage is not my business.  So you know, all was well when I left for my 3-to-close shift at the casino.  Hell, all was awesome since my 24 point dog essay pick was busy winning outright and my all-play was covering their two touchdowns.  Then the emails started.  Then I got home at 130am and logged into bluehost under the ‘your sites’ section and found only the prototype ‘no-nonsense.training.com’ site that I was roughing out for hometeam.  603brown is just gone.  So it’s not like I can even reboot it or anything like that.  So fortunately I remembered this old reliable and let’s just use it for now.

    Jaguars -6

This is really a pick against the Eagles. They’re unraveling and can thank the Jets and the Washington Redskins for stealing the spotlight by unraveling more publicly (honorable mention to the Browns). They’re still competitive in the NFC Least, and might hang around enough for a playoff spot. The Bills are playing well and are quietly 5-1. Their schedule is quite weak (it helps to be in a division with the Jets and Dolphins, and to be matched up against the NFC Least this year) and a wild card berth is theirs to lose. Buffalo is a tough place to play in, and look for them to take the W.

    5. Wisc (L)
    6. Jets +6 POTY

Dolphins +14.5 over Steelers — I know, I know, but that’s an awful lot of points for Mason Rudolph or whoever
    Bucs +2.5 over Titans
    Eagles +2 over Bills
    Jaguars -6 over Jets

Essay Seahawks -3.5 over Falcons — I would feel pretty OK about this pick if Matt Ryan was starting and I feel essay-pick OK about it having learned that Matt Schaub is still on an NFL roster. #10 vs #28 in DVOA and a dome game so my failure to check the weather forecast will not be as consequential as it was last week in the SF-WAS game (and still, one more point was all it would’ve taken…) The Falcons’ season appears to be basically over and even a win here is unlikely to keep Dan Quinn off the job market. Seattle mostly hasn’t been blowing teams out but I think the Falcons will be lucky to hit 20 here and a 4-point margin of victory shouldn’t be too unreasonable.

    Pats -13
    Jets +6
    Titans -2.5
    Rams -13.5
    Essay: KC +5

Al-Baghdadi! We got him. Packers are the Gophers of the NFL. (That should be enough for my essay.) Don’t really have more to add other than even without Mahomes KC is tough. Arrowhead is a gauntlet. Get Cheddar back up and running and I’ll finish my essay. BTW, charge us another $20 or $50 and make it work! I’m probably downplaying it, but everyone would pay more to be a part of Cheddar. It’s my favorite part of football weekends. I appreciate everything you do to keep it going. Thank you, Mike.

Here are my other 4 picks for the week. Please confirm you received these. -Brad

    Niners
    Browns
    Texans
    Rams -13.5 (Essay)

The Bengals are a dumpster fire with a ton of injuries, haven’t won a game, and now have to go across the pond to play the Rams? Yikes. The Rams already have 3 losses, so I don’t think they will just sleep walk through this game and flip the switch late. I think the Rams and McVay will be motivated to build a big early lead and then pound the rock in the 2nd half. Poor Dalton will probably be pressured a ton today. I don’t really trust Goff against decent competition, but against a banged up Bengals secondary with all his WRs? Sign me up. Jalen Ramsey’s 2nd game in LA goes as planned and they cruise into the bye week.

  8. CLTIL says:

    Titans -2.5
    Bills -2
    Browns +13
    Packers -5**

Aaron Rogers and Green Bay love the primetime. The Packers are buying what Coach LeFleur is selling and I think it’s only going to get better as the season goes on. Yes, Andy Reid is formidable as heck. But genius coaching can’t make up for being down 6 starters this week including some key d-linemen, and if Rogers has time then good things will happen. They are fine without Davante Adams for another week, we’ve seen that Rogers will get a beautiful ball to any eligible body out there. Plus Aaron Jones should be able to run on Kansas City’s poor rushing defense (they are 30th on the stat sheets). The guy’s got 8 TD’s already. Honestly it would have been more fun for everyone if Mahomes was healthy, but I’ll be happy with a nice win and cover.

  9. Essay: Donkeys – Last Thursday night was one of the most brutal NFL performances I have seen in some time. The Chiefs didn’t even play well, Mahomes went out, and the Donkeys still got straight up waxed at home. Flacco was particularly terrible slamming balls into linemen and hanging on to them too long play after play. Literally horrendous. They were in the “I’ll never bet them again” camp for a lot of people. Well, not me. Donkeys for the essay.

  11. Play of the year Seahawks -3.5
This pick is all about Matt Schaub. I saw Matt Schaub in the preseason. Its over for him and has been for years. He was going to get cut after that preseason game on ESPN but the 3rd stringer was put on IR. Never mind the fact that Atlanta is in a free fall. Tyler Lockett should have a huge day against the weak ATL secondary. What would be the motivation for the 1-6 Falcons at this point – the coach is going to be gone, you are trading good players (reading Alex Mack rumors to New England!), and most of all, these guys know Schaub can’t play and might get them destroyed with a few of his throws. This group was close and was maybe 1 bad third down play call away from a super bowl, but its over for them.

    Patriots, Steelers, Jags
